In 2000, the World Organization for Animal Health put forward the concept of "One Health", which means that the health of humans, animals and the environment in which they live is closely linked. As sentinel species in the oceans, marine mammals carry and are infected with pathogens that can have a significant impact on their own lives and health, and even on the whole marine ecosystem as well. In addition, some pathogens with zoonotic potential can also affect human health. Based on this background, this paper summarizes the major zoonotic pathogens in marine mammals, and comprehends the research progress, epidemiological trends, and factors affecting their transmission and spread. By looking forward to the trend of related disease surveillance and prevention, this paper aims to provide a reference for related pathogen research in the future. |
