Fungal strains of Diaporthe spp. are ones of the main pathogens of mango leaf spot, which seriously affects the yield and quality of fruits. In order to determine the pathogens and dominant populations that causes mango leaf spot in China, samples were collected from five major mango producing regions in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Hainan and Fujian in this study in 2018. Forty-three fungal strains of Diaporthe spp. were isolated from diseased tissues, and twenty-eight representative strains were identified through morphological characteristics and multigene (ITS, HIS, TEF 1-α and TUB2) phylogenetic analysis. Pathogenicity assays were also conducted on detached mango leaves. Twenty-eight purified fungal isolates were obtained and then identified as Diaporthe ueckerae,D. endophytica,D. tulliensis,D. yunnanensis and D. arecae, respectively. D. arecae were the dominant species, accounting for 64%. Pathogenicity test confirmed that these strains of Diaporthe spp. were pathogenic to mango leaves with significant differences in pathogenicity. The results provided scientific basis for further study on the occurrence regularity and control technology of mango leaf spot caused by Diaporthe spp. |
