Stimulator of interferon genes (STING), as a critical joint protein in innate immune system, plays a vital role in exogenous or endogenous DNA-mediated immune response, and is widely involved in a large variety of signal transduction processes in the host body. This article summarizes molecular mechanism of STING signaling pathway and its role in antiviral infection, autoimmune diseases, neurological diseases, and tumors, and introduces common STING agonists and inhibitors, so as to provide reference basis for further study on STING. |
